Add a door and windows to almost anything and it starts to resemble a house. When you add those details to a chunky little rock, particularly one with a flat bottom and a top whose angles resemble a roof, you end up with a cute and collectible little house. Tuck your creation beneath a house plant or create a scene in a terrarium, using small ferns and moss.

You can create your own custom snow villages, too. Little rock houses are fun and easy. Even if you've never picked up a paint brush, you'll be amazed at how quickly you can transform an ordinary rock into a real conversation piece. Gnome homes are perfect little garden accents. And the best part is that your raw material is just lying around on the ground, waiting for you to pick it up!

The projects start with a simple cottage, an A-Frame chalet, fanciful gnome homes, barns, a country church, produce market, farmhouse, stately colonial buildings, Tudor homes and Victorian mansions. There's plenty of room to add your own creative touches through the landscaping and color schemes of your little rock houses.
